Queens Borough President Melinda Katz last week announced the appointment of Sharon Lee as communications director.
Immediately prior to joining Borough President Katz’s office, Lee, a borough resident, served as campaign manager for Assemblyman Ron Kim’s (D-Flushing) successful re-election bid. Previously, Lee served as senior advisor and press secretary to former Comptroller and City Councilman John Liu.
“I’m honored to join Team Katz at Borough Hall,” Lee said. “It’s an absolute privilege to work with a dynamic leader of such substance, integrity, compassion and vision. This is an exciting opportunity for me personally to continue in public service with one of the best and most promising leaders of our city. I am very much looking forward to helping shape her message and executing on her vision for the World’s Borough and for all New Yorkers.”
Katz added, “Sharon brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of New York City government, media and labor. Her ideas, insights, instincts and professionalism will be enormous assets to my team. She also has an extensive understanding of the many diverse communities that make up our global city, especially our World’s Borough of Queens, and I’m thrilled to have brought her on board.”
