Police Officers lead two suspects apprehended while committing a burglary in the vicinity of 112th Street between 107 and 109 Avenues on Monday afternoon. Police say they both have criminal records and they believe the pair is tied to other crimes.
Two black men were arrested by police officers from the 106 precinct on Monday afternoon after a 911 call about a suspicious team knocking on doors in the vicinity of 112th street between 107th and 109th avenues.
The caller said that the men were knocking on doors and if anyone answered they excused themselves by claiming to be at the wrong house. They then would move on until they found a vacant house and break in where no one was at home.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the pair, one waiting in a car and the other exiting a private residence he had just burglarized. A chase ensued and one officer sustained a severe laceration on his hand before the two were brought under control.
Both suspects have lengthy criminal records and gave the police false names when they were arrested.
The suspects were charged with two burglaries within the confines of the 106th precinct and also tied to a burglary in Brooklyn.
Police also recovered the apparent getaway vehicle which was filled with all types of merchandise including jewelry and small electronics.
The 106 precinct has made several arrests of known burglars over the past few weeks and police sources say that they expect these arrests will be directly responsible for an overall decrease of burglary in the precinct.
