Hundreds of Woodhaven’s youngest athletes celebrated the 56th annual WORKS Little League Opening Day parade Saturday morning, when they marched down Jamaica Avenue and into Forest Park to kick off the much-anticipated season.
Close to 800 people – including players, coaches, parents, and other volunteers – participated in the event, which has for more than half a century drawn individuals from throughout the neighborhood for a day filled with sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Marchers gathered at PS 60 to begin the parade that proceeded down 92nd Street to Jamaica Avenue. The procession then turned down Forest Parkway to Forest Park and wrapped up at the bandshell.
