While many area revelers were still able to set off fireworks last Saturday, the 106th Precinct’s top cop reported a banner 4th of July season for confiscations, fines and arrests.
“We seized nearly double the amount of #Fireworks than last year! More seizures, more summonses, & more arrests!” Deputy Inspector Jeff Schiff said in a tweet early Sunday morning.
A large portion of the command’s total haul this year came from one bust. On June 23, 106th Special Operations officers executed a search warrant at an Ozone Park garage and discovered 110 cases of fireworks valued at $100,000.
