Two individuals were detained by Port Authority Police at LaGuardia Airport this week after they were found to have artfully concealed weapons on them as they attempted to get through the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint to board their flight. The two people were not traveling together but were headed to the same flight.
One traveler was found to have a straight-edged razor concealed in the removable sole of one of his shoes. Inside the hidden compartment were the razor and blade, along with a tube of cologne.
The other, a female, was found to have hidden a straight razor inside a ball cap that she was traveling with. The blade was tucked behind the inside band of the hat.
Upon detecting the items, TSA officers immediately contacted the Port Authority Police Department, which confiscated the items while officers conducted an investigation, and then detained both travelers, who are facing local charges.
