Ariola Looks Forward to Continued Partnership with Rockaway Community Boathouse

With budget season now upon us, Councilwoman Joann Ariola is looking forward to another year of partnership with Rockaway’s Community Boathouse. Through that partnership, Ariola is able ensure that high-quality, free programming remains in place on the peninsula.

“The Community Boathouse is such a great amenity for Rockaway to have, and it really helps to connect residents and visitors with the waters of Jamaica Bay,” Ariola said (R-Ozone Park). “Water is all around us in Rockaway, yet many residents never get to experience what it’s like to be out on a kayak, enjoying all of the wonderful gifts Mother Nature has given us. There’s truly something serene about being out on the water, and exploring our area in a way that only kayaks or stand-up paddleboards would allow. I look forward to a continued partnership with the Community Boathouse both in the coming fiscal year, and for many years to come.”

“The Community Boathouse is such a great amenity for Rockaway to have, and it really helps to connect residents and visitors with the waters of Jamaica Bay,” Councilwoman Ariola said.

“The Community Boathouse in Rockaway provides free kayaking on Rockaway’s unique and magnificent community asset, Jamaica Bay,” said Boathouse Volunteer Contracts & Budgets Manager Susan Fraser. “With the generous and continued support of Councilwoman Joan Ariola’s office, we are able to purchase watercraft equipment including kayaks, paddles and other accessories, as well as safety equipment such as life jackets, walkie-talkies and whistles. Without this funding, we would not be able to achieve the goals of the program.  This free public kayaking program provides the Rockaway community and the residents of and visitors to New York City a fun and healthy sporting engagement combined with the ability to connect with nature.”
