City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park), who has earned a reputation as an elected official who rapidly responds to quality of life issues, coordinated and collaborated last month with various City partners for the “Woodhaven Swarm”—a multi-agency initiative to clean the South Queens community’s streets.

During the swarm, Ariola noted, crews went to locations along Atlantic Avenue, Park Lane South, Jamaica Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard, and Forest Parkway, as well as Lt. Clinton L.Whiting Square on 84th Street between 91st Avenue and 90th Road.

In total, 650 blocks in the area were swept, 176 properties had graffiti removed, and more than 1,000 pounds of garbage were picked up.

“Thanks so much to our partners at the City Department of Sanitation, NYC Parks, and the City Economic Development Corporation for helping us to have the quality of life we all deserve here in District 32!” Ariola said.
