An all-hands fire broke out in Claudine’s Hair Salon at 162-26 Crossbay Boulevard Sunday night, shortly after 11:30 pm. Store owner Claudine Noce, who has operated the Howard Beach salon for the last 24 years, remained optimistic, despite the fire that will force the closure of the shop for the next few weeks. “We look forward to a nice new beginning,” said Noce. “It could have been much worse you know. Much worse.”
The fire was officially brought under control at 11:55 pm by 60 fireman sent to the scene in twelve units. There were no injuries and according to an FDNY spokesman, the fire was not believed to be suspicious
Now the salon owner will go about having clean-up and repairs on her shop begin as soon as possible. And as far as the loyal customers—there’s no need to worry, “We’re moving temporarily moving down the street to the New Times Barber Shop,” Noce said.
