The first city casino is getting ready to open at Aqueduct racetrack in Ozone Park, and it is receiving some of the most important pieces—slots.
The racino, approved by the state legislature last year, is scheduled to open in October with 2,280 video lottery terminals (VLTs). This first phase opening will allow patrons to gamble and enjoy the casino’s various food options. The second phase will see the casino bump it’s VLTs total to more than 4,500 with even more dining options.
Resorts World New York said the first of many VLTs began arriving this week, and they will be installed and individually tested during the coming weeks.
“This is an exciting development; we are on the path towards creating a world-class entertainment destination,” said Resorts World President Michael Speller. “The video lottery terminals, which are a cornerstone of our casino, have been in our mind’s eye for nearly a year, and we are happy that the public will soon share our vision. We are in the final stage and are thrilled that Resorts World Casino New York City will welcome its guests to an optimum experience.”
