Police Nab One From Filmed Subway Beating

After an anonymous tip, police caught one of three men who were videoed beating a man on the subway in Ridgewood.

On Nov. 22, police arrested 19-year-old Tayari McClellan, who was charged with assault and harassment.

The tip came after police released a video one passenger took on the L train at the Myrtle/Wycoff station around 2 a.m. on Nov. 8.

It shows an argument developing between two men, until the victim pushes the other man’s face away from his. At that point another man enters the frame and punches the victim in the head.

The tape shows the original aggressor and a third man joining in to beat and kick the victim while he is on the ground and other passengers watch.

Police said the crime was not reported until two days after the event.

Published reports said McClellan had eight previous arrests including robbery, assault and fare evasion.

Police are still looking for the two other aggressors shown in the video and urge anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers tipline at (800) 577-TIPS or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
