Police have identified the man found burned in Forest Park earlier this month and suspect it was a deadly accident.

Early in the morning on May 12, firefighters found the charred body of 48-year-old Zograb Avetisyam near the edge of Forest Park near Park Lane South and 86th Street.

There were severe burns covering Avetisyam’s body, but there were no other signs of injuries, police said.

It’s unclear what started the fire, but a police source said they don’t suspect foul play—
although they’re not ruling out any options as the investigation progresses.

The body was found around 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 when firefighters responded to calls about a brush fire in the park.

The found a pile of burning garbage and quickly put it out.

As they worked, they uncovered the smoldering body covered in the trash.
