Police Officer Joseph Matthews (center) received the cop of the month award for September this week at the 102 Precinct Community Council meeting. Standing with Matthews is DeLeon (fifth from right), members of the 102 Precinct Community Council including new president Latchman Budai (sixth from right), and Community Affairs officers from the 102. Officer Matthews was recognized for responding to a burglary in progress at about 1 a.m. on September 8. The suspect was arrested in relation to 44 burglaries three years ago and was caught again for the same crime almost 2 weeks ago.
