Two men that forced a 14-year-old girl to work as a prostitute were sentenced to three to nine years in prison on Tuesday.
Shaquan Gould, of South Ozone Park, and Evan Harrington, a Bronx resident, were both sentenced for tier involvement in a sex trafficking scheme.
According to charges, at around April 19 of this year, the victim met with Harrington who took her to Gould’s house on 123rd Street .The duo then forced the victim to do acts of prostitution and give all of the money she made to them.
The charges state that, on several occasions between the 19th and April 26, the victim said that she didn’t want to work for them anymore. The two men responded by saying that she couldn’t leave and Harrington beat her in the face and body.
She then escaped from the house on the 26th and called a relative who called the police.
Brown noted that this sentencing is the eighth sex trafficking conviction since legislation was passed increasing penalties for that crime on November, 1, 2007.
“Sex trafficking is a serious and disturbing crime that my office continues to vigorously pursue and prosecute,” he said in a statement.
