A Facebook page was created with this posting seeking information from the missing woman shortly after her disappearance.
The body of a 24-year-old woman missing since December was found washed up on a beach in Breezy Point on Saturday.
Marisha Cheong was last seen in Jamaica Queens near an apartment she shared with her boyfriend LJ Balkaran. She went missing right before Christmas.
Police found her decomposed body after they were called to the scene and say her hands might have been bound together.
The boyfriend, Balkaran reportedly told police that he went to pick her up at the train station in Forest Hills on December 19 but he said she never arrived. He admitted that he and Cheong had a fight through text messaging that day but vehemently denied any involvement in her disappearance.
Speculation arose among her friends and family because they said that although they had communicated with her by text message on the day of her disappearance, no one had actually spoken to her. Her mother told reporters that she was very suspicious of the texts because one of them addressed her as mom when her daughter always called her mommy. The texts have given rise to the idea that someone else may have been sending them.
Although reports from the Medical Examiner are not yet available, police has already confirmed that thewoman’s body suffered trauma before her death.
When found, the body was found clothed only in pajamas and with one shoe. Cheong had left her iPad in the apartment, along with her coat, things her family insists are not typical habits.
Police sources say that her boyfriend is being questioned in connection with her disappearance.
