Family, Fun, Food – AMCA/OLG Family Festival had it all

Family, Fun, Food – AMCA/OLG Family Festival had it all

The parish of Our Lady of Grace in conjunction with the Ave Maria Catholic Academy held their 36th Annual Family Festival last week, and despite having to postpone the event for two weeks, organizers say the event was by far one of their most successful to date.

People flocked to the school’s parking lot where the feast was held beginning on Wednesday night. “It’s really amazing,” said Joe DeCandia, “that we thought this year could be a bust because we had so many problems but clearly the community waited for us to get together and they did not let the delay get in the way. And then of course,” he joked, “we have higher authority on our side.”

For five nights, adults and children of all ages were transported into an arena of fun where there were rides, games, face painting, crowd roaming characters, nightly entertainment and of course zeppole, sausage and peppers, cotton candy as well as other feast food favorites.

Organizers explained that because the date had to be moved, many vendors who normally bring traditional festival favorites to the event were already booked into other events for the weekend. But both the school and the parish are looking forward to next year when they will be bringing a host of fun features to the 37th annual event next summer.
