Deputy Inspector Thomas Pascale will officially leave his command at the 106th precinct this week for a position in Patrol Borough South-Brooklyn. Pascale will be replaced at the 106th by Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff who comes to the command from the 76th precinct in Brooklyn.

Pascale returned to the 106 as its Commanding Officer in 2010 after having served in the precinct from 2000 to 2004. During his tenure at the helm of the 106, the inspector earned a place as an extremely well received and respected law enforcement figurehead as well as a beloved part of the community.

DI Schiff, who will assume his new post at the end of the week, is a 17-year veteran of the NYPD that was assigned to the 76th precinct back in May of 2012. Now in keeping with the tradition of short-term stays for the CO’s at the 76th, Schiff will be moving to the 106. Although the precinct which he comes from is a historically low crime area, the most prevalent crime there is something which continues to plague the command he now enters: burglary and petit larceny.

See next week’s issue of The Forum for a more complete look at Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff.

Note From the Publisher:

Although we have become used to a rapid turnover of Commanding Officers within our precincts, this particular departure is a very difficult one—for this newspaper and for this community. I would just like to say that it has been a true privilege to have had the opportunity to have worked with Deputy Inspector Thomas Pascale over the last few years. He is a man that goes beyond reproach in professionalism and undoubtedly served this community with great pride and to the absolute best of his ability.

We were all much better and safer under his watch and he will be missed greatly.

On behalf of The Forum, we would like to thank Inspector Pascale and wish him the best in his new position.
