On May 22, spring wasn’t the only thing blooming in Ozone Park.

That Thursday, Robert H. Goddard Middle School 202 held its third annual Bloomin’ Arts Festival, an enchanting evening that showcased the hard work, commitment, and high caliber of talent of the school’s art, music, and drama students, under the auspicious direction of their teachers.

The event displayed an art gallery of hundreds of students’ drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Also featured were performances by the school’s drama department, sixth grade chorus, seventh grade concert band, eighth grade symphonic bands, and the Little Kids Rock Band.

The event, which has grown substantially each and every year, was organized and directed by MS 202’s arts department, as well as a number of school leaders, including chorus director Michelle Brier, visual arts teachers Mark Foster and Dawn Woods, drama teacher Helen Sanders, and music director Justin Wolf.

Hundreds of parents and family members filled the gallery and the auditorium for what the school billed as “an evening of beautiful things to be seen and heard.”
