The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation sponsored its 35th annual “Spring is Here” dinner dance on Friday, when the group honored area leaders for their dedication to the South Queens neighborhood.
The GWDC honored U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan) as its “Woman of the Year” and Woodhaven Business Improvement District President and owner of Park Place Florist Matthew Xenakis as “Man of the Year.”
The organization also presented its “Award of Distinction” to NYPD Deputy Inspector and 102nd Precinct Commanding Officer Henry Sautner and its “Honorary Woodhavenite Award” to George Smith. “Awards of Appreciation” went to state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach) and Assemblyman Mike Miller (D-Woodhaven).
