The Forest Hills Festival of the Arts drew huge crowds to Austin Street Sunday, when thousands of people from throughout the neighborhood – and beyond – enjoyed food, crafts, and entertainment.

The annual festival, which was on its 14th year, mixed world-class music and high-end merchants and crafts across 69th to 72nd Road. With more than 115 local business represented, it was a way for people to meet the business owners and enjoy free entertainment with their friends and family.
“The word has spread. We’ve become one of the best and biggest fairs in New York City,” said Leslie Brown, president of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Brown said along with the area restaurants and shops, many of the local performance arts businesses were able to participate this year. Businesses such as the All Star Studios and Tiger Schulmann’s Karate had young students demonstrate what they’ve learned to the public on Austin Street.
In addition, this year they were able to offer up bigger and better bands for the community. The stage was graced by artists from different genres like The Pin-Ups, Bruce Wayne & the Soul Messengers and L.A. Blacksmith.

The next event Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce is organizing will be a “Save Jazz Thursdays” campaign on August.
“It’s a way of supporting the community. It’s a way for us to support jazz artists, music artists and all of the businesses in Forest Hills,” said Brown.
Jazz Thursdays will be on it’s 10th year, bringing jazz to the public for free start August 7th. You can go on their website to get more information and make donations.
