Father Charged with Strangling 8-Year-Old Son

Police have arrested a Queens man and charged him with the murder of his eight-year-old son after he called 911 to request an ambulance for himself and the child.

The defendant was identified as Boujeke Kenmoe, 41, of 169-17 Underhill Avenue in Fresh Meadows.

According to the charges, following a call to 911 at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014, police and medical personnel arrived at the  first-floor one-bedroom apartment and found Kenmoe sitting on the floor to the entrance of the bedroom with his wrist cut and also saw the lifeless body of the defendant’s son, Jerry Kenmoe, 8, laying face up on the bedroom bed.

The younger Kenmoe was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary report by the Medical Examiner’s Office allegedly noted that Jerry Kenmoe had petechial hemorrhaging in his eyes, which was consistent with being strangled.

Authorities said that while the defendant was being transported by ambulance to Queens General Hospital for his self-inflicted injuries, he stated, in sum and substance, to EMS and police that he had choked his son and then attempted to take his own life.

The defenadant is presently hospitalized, is awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on a charge of second-degree murder. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
