A Queens Library branch in Richmond Hill will be closed temporarily this week in order to make way for roof renovations, the branch announced.
The library, at 103-34 Lefferts Blvd., was slated to close its doors at the end of business July 26 so crews can move in and install a new roof with an anticipated reopening date near the end of September, a spokesman said. Limited library services were also established at a mobile library to be used near the facility during the time the main building is closed down.
The city Department of Design and Construction will be managing the project, which was funded through City Councilman Ruben Wills (D-Jamaica) and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, the library said.
In the interim, the Queens Library urged that residents visit the closest nearby branches, including one at 118-14 Hillside Ave. in Richmond Hill, another at 92-24 Rockaway Blvd. in Ozone Park and another at 128-16 Rockaway Blvd. in South Ozone Park.
