City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) announced some changes in personnel out of his Ozone Park office this week.

Salvatore Simonetti was named the councilman’s new chief of staff in place of Rudy Giuliani, who will be moving on as borough director at the Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations and the Build it Back Program, Ulrich said. Simonetti has already an active member of Ulrich’s staff and will now oversee constituent services and district operations, the councilman said.

“Sal has many years of government and managerial experience that will serve him well in this position,”  Ulrich said. “His extensive knowledge of the issues facing the district is truly second-to-none. There is no doubt in my mind that will do a great job.”

Ulrich also hired Redmond Haskins as his director of communications and veterans liaison. Previously, Haskins served as deputy district director for former Congressman Robert Turner. In addition to communications, Haskins will also work closely with the local veterans community on outreach, policy, and other issues, he said.

Gregory Mitchell was also hired full time as Ulrich’s legislative and budget director.
