Area non-profit K-9 Korral Inc. on Saturday hosted their annual Dog Run Halloween Costume Contest at Forest Park.

The large crowd marveled at the adorable dog costumes as owners enjoyed free refreshments and brought dogs of all sizes out to play and compete.

Judges Ed Wendell, Loycent Gordon and Janet Forte, all from Woodhaven, picked the top three contestants from three categories: Teams, Little Dogs and Big Dogs.

Prizes for the winners were provided by K-9 Korral’s sponsor, K-9 Caterers of Glendale, and included gift baskets and $25 to $50 gift certificates to K-9 Caterers. After the costume contest, the dogs bobbed for hot dog bits, with the winners receiving $10 gift certificates.

Charlotte Butler, president of K-9 Korral Inc., was pleased with the turnout.

“There are more people here this year than last,” she said. K-9 Korral Inc. founder Ronald Miles agreed, addiing, “It’s probably one of the best [crowds we’ve ever had.]”
