Bushwick Man Facing Life in Prison After Murder Conviction

A 50-year-old Brooklyn man was convicted last week of murder, attempted murder and other charges in the November 2010 shootings of his friend and another man in Jamaica.

According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Miguel Molinar of Bushwick drove out to a construction site followed in a separate vehicle by the victims Isidore Francis and Emmanuel Simington. There, outside of their vehicles, the defendant pulled out a gun and shot Francis in the head, killing him. Simington ran but was shot in the stomach by the defendant. Simington survived his injuries.

Molinar was convicted of second-degree murder, attempted murder in the second degree, first-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree after a two-week long jury trial. Molinar, who faces up to 50 years to life in prison, will be sentenced on Nov. 12.

“The defendant took the life of a man he called his friend by shooting him in the head,” Brown said. “The defendant then turned the gun on another man and fired as he tried fleeing the scene. A jury found the defendant guilty on all charges and he now faces the rest of his life behind bars.”
