A pregnant mother of four children last Wednesday was shot and killed a few feet from her LeFrak City apartment door. The baby, which was delivered nearly three months premature, initially survived, but died approximately four hours after the incident, according to police and published reports.
Brandee Anastasia Massey, 27, was gunned down around 9 a.m. in the 15th-floor hallway of her building, minutes after dropping off three of her children at school. She was shot twice and rushed to Elmhurst Hospital where she died. Massey’s baby later succumbed around 1:30 p.m.
According to the Daily News, police were searching for Massey’s uncle, the possible triggerman “who may have had a beef with the victim because she had possible knowledge of criminal activity involving him, a police source said.”
The latest CompStat numbers indicate that while overall crime is slightly down in the 110th Precinct this year, there have been seven murders—including the Massey homicides—in 2014, up from six last year. The only other major felony category in the precinct to see an increase from this period last year is car theft.
