Two Brooklyn men with long rap sheets were arrested last Friday after witnesses positively identified them as the perpetrators who allegedly shoplifted a Bluetooth device from a T-Mobile store on Cross Bay Boulevard, according to Dep. Inspector Jeffrey Schiff, the commanding officer of the 106th Precinct.

Jeffrey Maitre, 28, and Michael Polite, 29, were arrested by Officers Celona and Loparo, and charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Polite, who is on probation, was additionally charged with possession of burglary tools. Maitre has nine arrests on his record, while Polite has been collared more than 27 times, Schiff said.

Investigators initially believed the pair might be linked to a recent rash of robberies in the 106th and other commands.

“[They] were questioned constitutionally by numerous officers on the scene and by our detectives regarding that, but they were ruled out for various reasons,” Schiff noted.
