CB 9 District Manager Search Cmte. to Hold Special Meeting

The Community Board 9 District Manager Search Committee will meet next Thursday, Feb. 19, at Borough Hall, it was announced on Tuesday night at the board’s general meeting in Kew Gardens.

The confab is in advance of a “special meeting” of the entire board on Tuesday, March 3, at the same location. The March gathering will provide an opportunity for the three remaining candidates for the district manager position—Lisa Gomes, Scott Wolf and James McClelland—to appear before the full board to be interviewed.

While the meeting will be open to the public, it was determined on Tuesday that the voting process will be made in executive session behind closed doors.

Last month, the Search Committee whittled the candidate pool down to three from five following the initial interviews. It also voted on the starting salary for the position, arriving at $67,500 per year.

The board, which serves Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven and Ozone Park, has been searching for candidates since longtime District Manager Mary Ann Carey announced her retirement in August. As of Oct. 1, the position has been vacant. Lisa Gomes has been performing some of the district manager duties, in addition to her regular function as office manager/community associate, since Carey departed.
