For some time now, the boutique business revolution has been surging throughout the United States, as a result of upscale demands being made by savvy customers. Although there are many business models that fit quite well in the boutique genre, one particularly well suited is gyms.

When the boutique trend is successful in the gym, it represents something far greater than even in the boutique world’s most successful model—the hotel. Travelers who want to step away into the ultimate luxury and stand far away from any evidence of the cookie-cutter hotel standard invariably come home talking about the stay in a fabulous “boutique hotel.”  But in two weeks, when the reality of life has settled back in, that stay becomes nothing more than simply their last vacation. A memory for the scrapbook.

But the same trend applied successfully at the gym can lead to a lot more than a great vacation. It can lead to life-altering experiences for the client.

We could talk to you about the fact that when you speak to staff and instructors at Vigorous you can really sense both their commitment to the business and their vast knowledge in every aspect of the fitness world. We could also talk to you about the fact that this place is warm, inviting, comfortable, sleek, trendy, seriously well equipped and just downright beautiful.

But the most important thing is not the fancy trim, it’s the fact that they deliver what remains as the ultimate goal of anyone in the fitness industry–they get results. A stack of “before and afters”  put together in the year and a half they’ve been open provides more than enough evidence.

Now I know what some of you are thinking—here goes The Forum pitching a gym they want to get advertising from. And of course I’d like to advertising from the gym and every other local business out there but suffice it to say this place speaks for itself.

And as a result of looking through a large stack of successful “before and after” client shots, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Howard Beach native, former Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Goldfeder, Angelica Katz.  When I saw her photo in the stack I knew I had to apologize profusely because for the last year or so I had engaged in a “vigorous” campaign to try to get her to admit to me that she had weight loss surgery, because I believed nothing that would account for such a dramatic weight loss. Angelica would just smile back at me and say, “I did not have weight loss surgery.”

So here it is—I am VERY SORRY and congratulations on your stunning and Vigorous transformation.

Katz is quick to say that she would never have made it on her journey from a size 14 to a size 4 without the support and guidance of her Vigorous trainer, Alex Dudkiewicz whom she says offered her th motivation, confidence and persistent ass-kicking needed to get her to the end of her weight loss quest.

Bottom line here is that if you want to experience a different approach to serving fitness clients than this is something you’ll want to look into. It’s definitely a place that has paid extreme attention to detail in serving their clients every need.  Their highly touted group fitness classes include cycling, boot camp, total body conditioning, dance and yoga. In addition they have an impressive program for children 7-12 years old that includes classes which concentrate on flexibility, balance, strength and core training in addition to those focusing on boxing , zumba and dance.

If you’re thinking that all this comes at some extreme price tag, we’re happy to report that it’s affordable and there are options for every budget and every level of interest.

You can start by checking them out at their website but if you have the vim and vigor to just jump in the car, they’ll be happy to show you around. And please tell them you saw it in The Forum—and maybe we’ll get that ad.
