A Manhattan man last Thursday morning was arrested by Port Authority Police after being detained by Transportation Security Administration officers at a LaGuardia Airport checkpoint where they detected a hatchet, folding knife and brass knuckles among his carry-on items, according to TSA officials.
The officers contacted PA cops, who confiscated the items and cuffed the man on state weapons charges.
The incident, a TSA spokeswoman said, serves as a reminder that passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the security checkpoint, and TSA’s advice to passengers is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.
