If you have any questions regarding complicated insurance policies or Superstorm Sandy claims, state Department of Financial Services Mobile Command Centers are on their way to south Queens.

On Friday, April 17, the MCCs will be in the Waldbaums parking lot at Cross Bay Boulevard and 156th Avenue in Howard Beach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the following week, the trucks will set up in the municipal parking lot at Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 94th Street in Rockaway Beach, also from 10 a.m. to 6 pm.

The command centers bring DFS specialists into communities to provide homeowners, renters and business owners with one-on-one assistance. Specialists can answer questions about coverage and help policyholders resolve issues with insurers. According to DFS, the state agency and its Insurance Division supervise all insurance companies that do business in New York, overseeing 1,700 companies with assets exceeding $4.2 trillion.

“I’m pleased to help make this service available so that families can get the information they need,” said Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D-Howard Beach) who arranged the visits. “I encourage anyone with a question or concern about their insurance policy to come down and speak to a specialist.”
