Dozens of poker players, from card-shark pros to naïve novices, rode the river last Friday night in Ozone Park in a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament sponsored by The Forum to benefit the New York Families for Autistic Children Foundation.

Held at the Ozone Howard Little League clubhouse, the successful Texas Hold ‘Em tournament raised nearly $3,000 for the Cross Bay Boulevard organization which develops and institutes programs, services and training materials for families and professionals working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Established in 1998, NYFAC serves any family within the state that has a child with a developmental disability.

“Our doors are open to any family member or friend who needs these services,” reads a note on the organization’s website. “Our doors are also open to professionals, or students who want to learn how to deal with children who have special needs.”
