An off-duty city police officer last weekend was arrested for assaulting a woman who allegedly spat in his face, according to an NYPD spokeswoman and published reports.
David Rodriguez, 35, was cuffed last Saturday evening by 102nd Precinct cops in Ozone Park and charged with assault after he allegedly punched the victim in the face, “causing bleeding and substantial pain,” the spokeswoman said.
Cops indicated that Rodriguez, who was arraigned on Sunday, did not know the woman. Officials did not say what provoked the alleged incident.
