An unidentified motorcyclist from Ozone Park was struck and critically injured by a hit and run driver on Saturday evening shortly after 10 p.m., while travelling north on Woodhaven Blvd.
The 35-year-old, male, Hispanic was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where he was admitted for multiple injuries, the most serious of those to his leg.
Police were able to obtain a description and license plate number from a Good Samaritan who followed the SUV after the accident. The address corresponding with the plate number was within the confines of the 104th precinct in Ridgewood, where police arrested the suspect.
Darren Roach, a 47-year-old black male was arrested and charged with Felony Leaving the Scene and Criminal Possession of a Weapon after police searched him and found a stun gun on his person. Other charges, including Resisting Arrest and DWI are pending.
