A Howard Beach woman last Monday was laid to rest after succumbing to injuries she suffered in a single-car accident in Ozone Park, according to authorities and published reports.
Carmela Ruotolo, 88, was driving alone on Cross Bay Boulevard on the evening of April 20 when she slammed into an elevated train column at the busy Liberty Avenue intersection.
Ruotolo was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she passed away four days later.
No other injuries were reported.
Police this week indicated that investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
