City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) will sponsor the second annual Veterans Jobs Fair at Resorts World Casino’s Central Park Event Space on Friday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Skilled service members and veterans will have the chance to speak directly with hiring managers from close to 50 prospective employers, including Lockheed Martin, JetBlue Airways, General Electric, utility companies, and trade associations. Job hunters will also be able to interview on the spot for more than 100 openings.

“Yes, people do leave with jobs,” Ulrich said of the fair. “We have told companies: ‘If you’re not hiring, don’t come; if you’re only hiring for minimum wage jobs, don’t come.’ Veterans deserve a little bit more respect.”

Last year, Ulrich noted, four veterans who participated in the jobs fair were able to get positions in city trade unions through Helmets to Hardhats, a national, nonprofit program that connects retired and transitioning active-duty military service members with skilled training and career opportunities in the construction industry.

“That’s a gateway to the middle class,” Ulrich said.

Resorts World Casino is located at 110-00 Rockaway Blvd. For more information, contact Redmond Haskins: (646) 584-3715 or rhaskins@council.nyc.gov.
