A Howard Beach boy scout is calling on the community to help him help victims of domestic violence through a service project that will propel him to the rank of eagle scout.

Shane Crockett, a junior at Xavier High School and Life Scout in St. Helen Catholic Academy Scout Troop 139, is collecting used cell phones, batteries and accessories that are in any condition from any carrier. The items, Crockett indicated, will either be refurbished or recycled and given to Verizon HopeLine and used to support the National Network to End Domestic Violence.

You may donate on the following dates: Saturday, May 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Helen Church; Sunday, May 17, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Helen Church; and Monday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at S.T.A.R.S. Youth Center in Coleman Square, Howard Beach.
