Hundreds of families annually attend the Wonderful Woodhaven street fair.

Families from all over the World’s Borough on Sunday flocked to a slice of south Queens that many of The Forum’s faithful readers would say is wonderful 365 days a year – but especially on a certain Sunday in October.
The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation’s annual Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival once again boasted fair staples like rides, bounce houses, craft and merchant booths, and, of course, festival fare for the borough foodies.
For lifelong Woodhaven resident Alex Blenkinsopp, Wonderful Woodhaven is an annual trip down Memory Lane (Jamaica Avenue).
“I’ve attended the Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival for decades now. I have many fond memories of it from when I was a kid, and it’s still a lot of fun,” said Blenkinsopp, director of Communications for the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association. “People from every corner of the neighborhood – and from beyond Woodhaven too – come out, enjoy a wide array of entertainment, try out some of what the visiting vendors are offering, and patronize the local stores too. Residents bump into friends, and connect with the community groups and elected officials who set up tables on the avenue. It was a bonus that we had gorgeous weather for this year’s street fair.”
