Man Stabs Wife to Death on Richmond Hill Sidewalk

After an argument, Rampersaud allegedly slashed and stabbed Baldeo near the intersection of 103rd Avenue and 124th Street.

A 50-year-old Guyana national has been charged with murder in the multiple stabbing death of his common law wife on the streets of Ozone Park, just after midnight Monday.

 “This was an especially violent crime in which the defendant is accused of viciously taking the life of the woman he purportedly loved by repeatedly stabbing her following a heated verbal argument. If convicted, her brutal and senseless death merits serious punishment.”

The defendant, identified as Prem Rampersaud, is temporarily residing with a friend on 116th  Drive in Jamaica.

Rampersaud is being held pending arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on charges of second-degree murder and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

According to the charges, Rampersaud met the victim, Rajwantie Baldeo, 46, as she finished work at an Ozone Park restaurant at approximately twelve midnight on December 5, 2016.

As they neared the corner of 124th  Street and 103rd Avenue they were verbally arguing and Rampersaud stabbed Ms. Baldeo multiple times about the body, fatally wounding her.

If convicted, Rampersaud faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
