City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) on Wednesday hosted a remembrance ceremony in Rockaway marking the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks. Ulrich, who chairs the Council Committee on Veterans, was joined at Memorial Circle by area veterans, including some who served in World War II, students from local schools, and fellow elected officials.

A flag was flown over Memorial Circle that was flown over the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor earlier this year. The ceremony also featured a reading of President Franklin Roosevelt’s address to the nation following the tragedy, before a moment of silence at 12:48 p.m., 7:48 a.m. (Hawaii time), which corresponds to the start of the attack.
