Queens Borough President Melinda Katz recently spoke to about 50 newly minted City Police Department officers during an orientation session held by NYPD Patrol Borough Queens South at the 107th Precinct stationhouse in Fresh Meadows. The rookie cops have been assigned to work in various commands within PBQS.
Katz praised the officers for taking on the challenging job of serving and protecting the people of the borough and city and gave them some advice on getting to know the diverse communities of Queens. The officers were among 555 new members of New York’s Finest who graduated from the Police Academy during a Dec. 28 ceremony at Madison Square Garden.
