Jones allegedly stabbed Monet Franklin to death inside their Beach 32nd Street apartment.
A Queens man was charged with murder after his common-law wife was found with multiple stab wounds inside their Far Rockaway residence on Sunday morning. The defendant, Jonnie Jones, 42, of Beach 32nd Street in Far Rockaway, was arraigned this week in Queens Criminal Court before Judge John Zoll on charges of second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The defendant was held without bail and ordered to return to court on March 16, 2017.
Charges against the defendant state that, in the early morning hours of February 26, Jones stabbed the victim, Monet Franklin, 51, with a knife, multiple times about the body which resulted in wounds to her left lung, heart, liver and right kidney thereby causing her death. He also attacked the victim’s mother, Maria Franklin, 74, stabbing herin the left hand causing severe lacerations.
If convicted, Jones faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
