He never got away with it.
A Howard Beach bank robber on Tuesday quickly felt the long arm of the law—not long after a die-pack exploded as he attempted to make off with the loot.
The man, described by police as in his 40s, wearing a black hat and gray hoodie, walked into Queens County Savings Bank on Cross Bay Boulevard near 156th Avenue around 1:30 p.m., passed a teller a note demanding money, and then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash and a hidden gift.
“The die-pack exploded near the entrance of the bank,” police told The Forum.
The suspect then ditched all of the cash and ran. But it took cops, including arresting Officer Valerie Cincerelli, just five to seven minutes to locate him after a brief canvas of the area.
