The Golden Age senior group of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Church met at the Ozone Park church last Thursday for its annual Memorial Day celebration.
“These folks are a hoot, and they also make you think,” said Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Howard Beach), who attended the event. “We talked about some real issues – healthcare funding is a big one, as is support for home care aides and transportation. They just don’t hold back, and I love and appreciate that so much.
“Everyone was excited about the extra funding we got this year for home care workers,” she continued, “and most folks were a little concerned what the future of care would look like. Everyone had an opinion, sometimes two opinions. But it was a blast as always. I want to thank the incredible staff at Nativity, the indomitable seniors that make this group so much fun, and everyone who came out on Thursday.”
