A splendid summer Tuesday filled with families, franks, and fun gave way to a night that boasted one of this city’s greatest traditions: Macy’s 41st Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show.
The clear sky over the East River was lit by a 25-minute dazzling display of pyrotechnics set to an invigorating score that, according to Macy’s, “featured tunes from various genres that resonate deeply with all Americans.”
In all, 50 pyrotechnicians controlled the colorful chaos that emanated from five barges containing no less than 15 miles of wiring which helped to ignite the fireworks that produced 2,400 bursts and effects per minute during the synchronized spectacle.
