Brooklyn Man Sentenced to 16 Years to Life in Prison for Maspeth Burglary

Felix Perez was sentenced as a mandatory persistent felon.

A mandatory persistent felon has been sentenced to 16 years to life after pleaded guilty to burglarizing a Maspeth home.
Felix Perez, 38, of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Perez plead guilty last month to second-degree burglary.
District Attorney Brown said, “The defendant, a persistent felon, violated the sanctity of another person’s home in order to enrich himself. He has now been sentenced by the Court to a lengthy term of incarceration as punishment for his actions.”
According to the criminal charges, police officers responded to a 911 call of a burglary in progress on 66th Street on the afternoon of August 1, 2016. When the officers entered the home, they encountered the defendant unlawfully inside the residence. There was a physical altercation and the defendant was shot in the upper thigh, but still managed to flee the scene. Perez was apprehended soon afterwards approximately a block away from the home.
