Roughly 600 people seeking employment gathered at Resorts World Casino New York City earlier this month for State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr.’s (D-Howard Beach) Annual Job Fair.
According to Addabbo’s office, the four-hour event featured more than 150 potential employers representing a wide spectrum of career fields.
The fair offered participants an opportunity to meet and speak with employers from government agencies, private retailers, health care, education, insurance, telecommunications, social services, transportation, airlines, engineering, and other areas. Opportunities for residents to seek out seasonal retail work, in light of the upcoming holiday season, were also a highlight of the event, Addabbo said.
“One of my most important goals as a public official is to help people find and hold meaningful living wage jobs that enable them to provide for themselves and their families,” said Addabbo, a member of the Senate Labor Committee. “My yearly job fairs provide important opportunities for individuals to talk face to face with a multitude of diverse employers who may very well represent the next steps on a job seeker’s career path.”
