Jamaica Man Sentenced to up to Life in Prison for Sex Assault of 7-Year-Old Girl

A Queens man has been sentenced to up to 18 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl over a three-year period, beginning when she was only seven years old.
Shaking Jones, 36, of 114th Road in Jamaica, was convicted last month of predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child following a three-week jury trial presided over by Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter.
An indeterminate sentence of 18 years to life in prison was imposed. According to trial testimony, Jones was dating the 7-year old girl’s mother when, beginning on August 1, 2012, he regularly and repeatedly sexually assaulted his young victim. The abuse ended in July 2015 when the victim disclosed to an adult cousin what was occurring.
District Attorney Brown said, “The facts in this case chronicle a frightening ordeal of sexual violence that went on for years. By using his friendship with the victim’s mother, the defendant took advantage of an innocent child for his own sexual gratification. The lengthy sentence imposed today by the court is more than deserving.” The District Attorney identified the defendant as
