An off-duty Emergency Medical Technicial from the FDNY has been arrainged on charges of a rape that occurred during a house party this past Saturday evening. His victim was a 10-year-old girl.
District Attorney Brown said, “The defendant, who attended a birthday celebration while offduty, is alleged to have turned it into a nightmare for this 10-year-old girl and her family. He will be vigorously prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The defendant has been identified as Frantz Petion, 25, of Cornell Street, Hempstead, New York.
He was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge Scott Dunn on charges of first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.
Judge Dunn set $500,000 bond/$400,000 cash bail and ordered Petion to return to court on March 23, 2018.
According to the charges, Petion, who was a guest at a birthday party on Saturday evening, entered an attic bedroom where the 10-year-old victim was sleeping and allegedly held her by her neck and forcibly sexually assaulted her.
When the victim began to yell, Petion put his hand over her mouth and told her he would hit her if she continued to scream.
Just moments later, a family friend came to the room to check on the victim, heard a male voice and then forced open the locked door to find the defendant next to the partially clothed victim.
