A dozen banners designed by PS 97 students were recently installed along streets near the Woodhaven school as part of the City Department of Transportation, Groundswell Community Mural Project and Woodhaven Business Improvement District Traffic Safety Banner Residency Program.
Crafted by 5th graders and dedicated to the late Woodhaven activist Maria Thomson, the pennants, according to the DOT, “will work to raise traffic safety awareness, help prevent crashes, and reduce injuries around their school communities.”
