Brooklyn Man Gets 12 Years to Life in Prison for Residential Break-ins

Rodriguez left behind a screwdriver at an apartment at 317 Harman St. in Ridgewood, and DNA recovered from that screwdriver was a match for the defendant.

A 39-year-old Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 12 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to series a of break-ins.
Identified as Paul Rodriguez, 39, of 58th Street in Brooklyn, the defendant plead guilty to three counts of second-degree attempted burglarybefore Queens Supreme Court Justice Daniel Lewis, who sentenced the defendant yesterday to 12 years to life in prison as a mandatory persistent violent felon.
Rodriguez burglarized several homes throughout Queens County between November 2016 and April 2017.
“Over the span of six months, the defendant brazenly busted through locked doors and windows to steal the property of others,” said District Attorney Brown.”“Not only did he violate the sanctity of the victims’ homes, he caused damage that forced the occupants to dig into their pockets to secure their homes again. Good police work led to the capture of this serial burglar, who has now been sentenced to a lengthy term of incarceration.”
Rodriguez admitted that he attempted to break into the locations below on the following dates: 1) April 5, 2017, the defendant attempted to pry open the front door of an apartment located at 47-38 48 Street in Ridgewood, Queens, th 2) On February23, 2017, Rodriguez attempted to break into an apartment at 553 SenecaAve., through the fire escape. 3) On November 4, 2016, the defendant attempted to break into an apartment located at 317 Harman Street gaining access through the fire escape.
Rodriguez left behind a screwdriver and DNA recovered from that screwdriver was a match for the defendant.
